MY SUIT (BOOTS)
In my first costume, I wasn’t sure how to achieve a goat-like effect with my feet. I watched a lot of complicated YouTube videos on how to create goat feet, but those were too expensive and more time consuming than I wanted. Consequently, I went the east route. I found some goat costume pants on Amazon that came with goat hoof spats to cover my shoes. They had elastic straps that went under my shoes to keep them in place.
Unfortunately, the amount of walking I wanted to do in my costume wasn’t conducive to keeping the loose elastic straps in place. The feet also bounced too much when I walked and would slide to the side. It resulted in an awkward clown-like effect that wasn’t so nice for a terrifying Yuletide demon.
In my second costume, I had used fur scraps for my pants. I had just enough left over that I could make some feet. I purchased some black workboots, with side zippers, from Amazon. I used hot glue and glued the fur scraps to the boots, leaving an opening for the zipper. I tried to align the length of the fur strands to the sole of the boots. Where it was too long, I trimmed the fur a bit with scissors. I also tried to make sure that the fur length wouldn’t result in me stepping on fur from the other foot, sending me tumbling with a mask on my head.
When I walk, you’ll notice that I have a very specific Krampus gate. It’s a deliberate march so I don’t step on elements of my costume and fall head first into a person, or the ground.
